We at Ollie’s endeavour to find the perfect home for our rescues. This takes many hours of our time and a lot of groundwork has to be done before you can take your new soul mate home.
In the first instance you will probably have seen a picture that has caught your eye on our Haven wall on Facebook or website. The first point of contact is to either comment on the picture and express your interest on Facebook, or inbox myself or other admin to enquire. At this stage you will be given full details of the animal. Whatever we know we will be sure to tell you (warts and all). At this stage we will appoint one contact for you to speak to. They will be familiar with your needs and will supply all Ollie’s Haven contact details for you.
We will arrange a home check for you as soon as practical. We do let you know the same day if your home check has passed or failed. Do not despair if you have failed it may be simple reasons such as an unsafe garden fence or inadequate facilities for the type of pet to be re-homed. We can always advise you of the reason. Perhaps a different pet would suit your home better and we would advise you of this.
If your home check has passed and we have contacted you to confirm this we appreciate you will be eager to re-home your chosen pet as soon as possible. We will invite you and any members of your family to Ollie’s, or our foster carers if the dog is not kennelled at Ollie’s, this includes any other dogs in the home as well. Should your introduction go well and you wish to proceed we will sign the relevant paperwork and you may take your pet home. You will be advised from stage one after passing the home check about re-homing fees. We appreciate that one visit may not be enough and actively encourage you walk, spend time and bond with the pet.
We at Ollie’s endeavour to have all animals neutered before re-homing, but in some cases this isn’t always feasible. If we have neutered the animal, it may need follow up appointments that we expect you to attend. If for any reason, we have been unable to neuter a pet we will ask you to countersign that this will be undertaken within 6 months (or in the case of juvenile pets within a reasonable time period to be advised by Ollie’s Haven staff). We reserve the right to remove the pet if this is not adhered to.
Ollie’s Haven offers a second to none RBU (Rescue Back Up). We visit to check after 1 month, 3 months and 6 months before we sign you off our checklist. We will however still be available to advise and take back a pet should the need arise, which we hope it doesn’t. We will expect you to sign to state that in the event of any complications throughout the life of the pet, that the pet must come back to Ollie’s Haven and not be sold, given, loaned or handed in to another shelter. We accept full responsibility for pets re-homed by ourselves.
We recommend that you take pet insurance out as soon as possible.
